RENEE + MICHAEL. 21-01-12. BAWLEY POINT, SOUTH COAST NSW

I’m really starting to claim the fact that I don’t shoot rainy weddings, no matter how bad the weather’s looking leading up the ceremony. For about the fifth time in as many weeks, the clouds parted and the rain stopped, just in time for Renee to make her way through the bush down to Bull Kelp Beach in Bawley Point, where she was met by her smiling fiance, Mick.

You’ll notice that these images are captured as opposed to created. There’s no better way to record lasting images, especially for a couple as cool and natural as Renee and Mick. There’s one exception to this, noticeable at the end of this series, and that’s when ‘the boys’ are falling out of the phone booth. As opposed to being a Telstra advertising ploy (their landline’s are about the only thing that get reception down there), this shot was taken to prove in time to come that, on his wedding day,  Mick had enough good mates to fill a phone booth (as is all you need according to his wise uncle).

As for  ’the girls’ they kept the symbolic gestures simple and stuck to the coolest looking yellow Kombie you’ll ever see. The Bridal Party on a whole, larrikins included, were a testament to what great people this area gives rise to. A testament too, to the great couple that are Renee and Michael.

For the first time in a long time, I turned down the opportunity for a cold beer at this wedding, in favour of not missing any potential shots. I hope the shots reflect the sacrifice.

Congratulations to Renee and Mick.
