TALI + ROB. MARRIED 12-05-2013. PHOTOGRAPHIC WEDDING REPORTAGE

I first met Tali 10 years ago, almost to the date. I’d approached her at her Photography Gallery, Blender Gallery in Paddington, as an emerging Photo Artist. Soon after I exhibited my two most successful exhibitions of my career to date with her gallery over the following 12 months or so. Between us we drank lots of coffee and become friends through the organisation of these events.

Fast forward to about now to a much more significant event in Tali’s life that again I have been fortunate enough to be closely involved with as friend and Photographer. This event, of course, was Tali and her partner Rob’s, Wedding. And it was awesome!.

There are Weddings that as a Photographer I smile a lot and feel completely fulfilled in connecting with my subjects and capturing photographs that are nice to look at and meaningful. And then there are Weddings like Emily and Miki’s where I feel a little taken back by how utterly magical this world that I’ve found myself in has become. This magic world was made by two beautiful people, and for me culminated in light that danced with all the right moves, and people that glowed in all the right ways. Days like this feel a little like a Photographers dream – although it just happened to be a beautiful reality.

I hope you guys are as moved as I was the coming together of Leah and Andrew and their little boys. They were graced with pretty much the best autumn afternoon I can remember. Topped off with Cupitts Winery fine food and wine and amazing atmosphere. I’m based as Cupitts is down the road from CloudFace HQ, but given the chance I would order up a Wedding like this every time.

KASS + CHRIS. MILTON WEDDING 27-04-13

Kass and Chris are currently based in Kalgoolie where I imagine the earth to be red and the sun searing hot.

For their Wedding they came back to Chris’ home town of Milton (just up the road from me)….where the earth is dark brown and rich with green grass. The sun is not searing here, but the Wedding was as well lit as a photographer could hope.

From Father David Anthony’s hillarious yet dry one liners, through to the most amazing tangerine moon rise over the farmland beyond the Wedding marquee, this Wedding was as picturesque as it gets. Include two very special people that organised a hell of a shin dig, and you get one perfect Wedding. Congratulations Kass + Chris!

REX + ELIZA. KEEPING IT REAL (FUN). BATEMANS BAY WEDDING. 14-04-13

Just remember you saw it here first. Cadaver may be a bit morbid but if played with determination, the sight of two grown men strewn on a lawn in corpse mode will make you want to cry from laughing so much. Rules are easy – the first cadaver to become reincarnate in the living human form….loses. Rex and the funny man in the blue suit took what was previously the exclusive game domain of Rex and Eliza to a new level.

When you celebrate your relationship and exchange vows of love in a Botanical Gardens on the South Coast of NSW, death is probably thematically a distant association. But when you throw two intelligent quirky scientists like Rex and Eliza amongst the eucalypts, it didn’t take me long to understand that anything can happen.

From lost skiers photo bombing, to some fine Queensland home brew, it wasn’t just the upturned playing cards that raised an impressed eyebrow.

The real deal (sorry) was to bring together friends and family for a relaxed day under the sun . Rex and Eliza kept it simple and authentic, yet heartfelt and moving all the same.

It’s rare that I get to experience my clients’ Wedding as a guest as much as a Photographer, but that’s how this day felt for me. And for that reason alone it was quite unique and very special.

Thank you Rex and Eliza, once again. And congratulations on finding each other and celebrating in this.

TEGAN + SIMON. BRAIDWOOD WEDDING. 13-04-2013

A couple of Saturday’s ago I stepped into the set of The Office except it was a Wedding and it was outdoors (as opposed to in the office) and the sky was pale blue matching flowing polka dot dresses.

Simon looked dapper with a glint in his eye. But Tegan was the bombshell. The celebration of their vows was heartfelt, sincere and oh so very funny.

Games were played, cigarettes smoked with guilt free style, beverages cooled and festivities were ready to begin.

A classic wool shed, amazing band, details details making this period piece a pinch yourself time warp.

Dancing Laughing Eating Drinking. Celebrating a beautiful and very loving friendship. Congrats Tegan and Simon. And thank you.

GUS + CATE. 06-04-13. MARRIED and worth the wait!

This is a special post for me. The reason being that Gus and Cate are close friends of ours and it was also one of the first Weddings in too long that I’ve had the opportunity to put down the camera and celebrate with friends. It was also one of the best Weddings I’ve been to….as guest or Photographer.

Here’s some shots I snapped from a guests perspective before putting away the camera gear and celebrating in one of the best match ups ever made. The wedding was perfect and we couldn’t be happier for Gus and Cate.
