Henri Cartier Bresson - so much gratitude for the inspiration. We owe you man!
My mum wears fuscia - we just call it hot pink. It kind of freaks me out a bit but makes choosing flowers on Mothers Day easier. My brides don’t wear fuscia, nor hot pink, but maybe on occasion, a shade of dusky pink - you know, the colour of our favourite skies on sunset in autumn. Just don’t call it fuscia.
Celebrate! Don’t die. I’m not like a big party kind of person. I normally find the comfy couch, post up in it’s corner, sipping all night on the one drink as I ponder the randomness of the universe and the variety of people that kindly offer me their time and warmth. But if I’m pushed, “lets hit it kind of pushed, lets CELEBRATE this goodness!”, I’ll dig deep, and get down. I might even loosen up those hips and fist bump the air with some weird hand jive that’s thankfully never seen a mirror. It’s what life’s about. Don’t die!
I’m not a tennis fan really although I did play it when I was young. I was taking lessons and their were no other 11 year old boys signed up so I was put in with the 13 year old girls. Scary at first, I learned to really appreciate my tennis lessons ! Really appreciate. I was in Centre Court. Just like a lot of my clients find themselves on their Wedding Day. And just like me almost all my clients don’t really feel that normal in that place. Under the spot light, just them!. But then, just like the eleven year old version of myself, we work out that there’s benefits. And as long as it’s short and sweet, these moments can be some of our most treasured of all time.
Just the term Click Bait conjures up questionable practices of which naiveté and ignorance for me prevail - of course. Whether you’re like me or not, I know you clicked! You depraved individual you. So instead of hitting you up for a dodgy investment scam, or finding that your computer all of a sudden has pornographic animations both unsavoury and distracting, this is wholesome goodness with a hint of risqué. Actually it’s not even risqué is it. OK I’m kinda boring and not that daring at all…but hopefully you like the photographs anyway. Please erase this url after viewing.
Colour is so good. Rainbows to Macaroons! It defines my kids xylophone, and the intensity of the love heart emoji. It’s nature at it’s best. And it’s your funkiest shoes. (Guys never have funky enough shoes!). It’s kaleidoscope rich. And somehow usually fun. Colour me pretty you fool and I’ll love you until our days are done.
This little slice of my world or documentary work I slipped into a digital suitcase called 'Being’. You know, like to be. Two simple words that are as convoluted and contrived as explanations of the beginning of the universe. So keeping it simple, these photographs are reflections of my own heart, in a way that I always hope is interpreted artistically, and captured with the spirit of a ninja warrior. Enjoy!
It’s a new term - ‘Pre-Documentary’. The visual documentation of all events that are ‘pre’. Pre-events. As if it’s not every event you’ve ever experienced. But what I mean is that these are events that are particularly ‘pre’ orientated. Like pre-wedding-ceremony. Or pre-mature. Pre natal! There’s a preparatory flavour going on. That’s all.
I’m a people photographer. Officially a Documentary Photographer with my chosen field being HUMANITY. Landscape photographers can have their bush walks and tripod moments with the rising sun. I’m surfing, I mean photographing like minded folk like you and your friends, in all your human endeavour to laugh, fall over, and care. Yeah!
Welcome to my office. Often light and breezy, sometimes opulent or leafy. Always unique, and never dull. Wedding Scenes. There’s a lot of them. How lucky am I to be immersed in them. I’m a curious cat and I like to watch. Not in a creepy way, just inquisitively. I like exploring how we work and often we’re at our best and worst in the midst of a Wedding Scene. For better or worse. Usually better. Especially when we put our arms in the air and feel how good slicing through the ether can feel with the love of your life!
Chakras and Sutras, Shastras and shivers. Whatever your flavour, the heart is universal and I like to believe it’s where I work best. These shots are from the heart - every single one of them. There’s not a moment here where those little flutterbies aren’t dancing their wings. Love is everything. I really feel that deeply. And these shots along with every other image you’ll find on this humble little site, are all little pieces of my heart bouncing around quietly behind the camera.
Or kilometres. But it doesn’t rhyme nearly as well. If you’ve read my blurb on the heart, you’ll know I’m a feeler. Second to none, and right next to that beating heart is…..your smile. Joy - not much more we can ask for! I love the stuff and am always angling for more. Call me indulgent. I might not pull it off all the time, but I’ll do my best. For sure though, is your smile will meet mine every time!
Yessssss. Say it out loud. Even better be it out loud. Be it with passion. Your romance, your positive vibes, your vitality, your loving nature all exposed for us all to share. Thank you, you passionate beasts - I applaud your courage and your soul.
